The paintings on display come from an art collection of the owner's family that has grown over generations, a collection that deals primarily with Austrian art of the time around 1900
Alexander Rothaug (Vienna 1870 – 1946 Vienna), brother of the painter Leopold Rothaug, began his career as an apprentice sculptor. From 1885, he studied at the Vienna Academy under Franz Rumpler, August Eisenmenger, Christian Griepenkerl, and Leopold Carl Müller. In 1892, Rothaug moved to Munich, where he focused primarily on nature studies and worked as an illustrator for the 'Münchener Fliegenden Blätter' magazine. Germany, Italy, Spain, and Dalmatia were the destinations of his study trips. In 1910, the artist had his first successful exhibition at the Vienna Künstlerhaus, which he joined the following year. He was particularly interested in ancient mythology and German legends.
Emil Jakob Schindler, the prominent Austrian landscape painter of the late 19th century, studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts under Albert Zimmermann. Influenced by the "paysage intime," he developed his own style, departing from the atmospheric realism taught at the academy. Schindler's studies of Dutch painters and travels to various places, including Dalmatia, Venice, Holland, Istria, and Corfu, were influential in shaping his approach. He found affirmation in his own artistic vision through his engagement with artists such as Corot and Daubigny, focusing on reducing the pictorial field, bright tones, and sketch-like brushwork.
Carl Moll (Vienna 1861 – 1945 Vienna) was an Austrian artist who played a significant role in the Viennese art scene. He initially studied under Carl Haunold and later Christian Griepenkerl at the Academy of Fine Arts. However, his true mentor was Emil Jakob Schindler, with whom he studied from 1881 to 1892. Moll was one of the founders of the Vienna Secession in 1897 but left the movement in 1905 together with the Klimt Group. He was known for acquiring important artworks for the State Gallery and his exhibition activities as the artistic director of the Galerie Miethke. Moll's works were characterized by meticulous observation, sensitivity, and a preference for landscapes and interiors. He dedicated himself to capturing light, atmosphere, and mood in his paintings. His artistic career extended until the early 1940s.
Olga Wisinger-Florian (Vienna 1844 – 1926 Grafenegg) was an Austrian artist who initially trained as a pianist. Later, at the age of nearly thirty, she began her studies in painting and became a student of Emil Jakob Schindler. She developed a preference for depicting cultivated nature, particularly parks, gardens, and flower arrangements. She later painted more forest landscapes. In the late 1880s, she changed her painting style and embraced a richer and more colorful palette. While remaining faithful to Schindler's poetic realism throughout her life, her artistic expression continued to evolve in the following decade. She employed a thicker and more dynamic application of paint, which was typical around 1900 and showed an affinity with French Impressionism.

A symbiosis of old and new!
Looking back at Vienna's history, elevators were a vehicle of the upper class, installed in palaces and hotels. It was not until 1873, during the World's Fair, that all Viennese had the opportunity to take a hydraulic lift to the roof of the Rotunda. The lift in The Amauris Vienna is a reminder of the old days: It was commissioned at the turn of the century, and the tiles, the staircase, the driver's cabin, and the cast-iron cladding also date from this era.
Hubirds - A hybrid of birds and humans.
A human is waiting for the elevator on the ground floor. After a while, he decides to use the staircase instead. He runs a bit, then jumps and finally starts to fly. This unusual staircase which people use very rarely makes humans turn into Hubirds. The higher the person climbs, the bigger his or her body gets, and becomes more and more covered in feathers. On the last, seventh floor, people are looking for a way out of the building to continue flying outside.
