You can buy a lot of things these days. Tradition and history can not! When you look around the Glasswing restaurant and bar at The Amauris Vienna, it becomes clear what is meant.
The paintings on display come from an art collection of the owner's family that has grown over generations, a collection that deals primarily with Austrian art of the time around 1900
Famous names are represented here:
Emil Jakob Schindler, the most famous Austrian landscape painter of the late 19th century (and father of Alma Mahler!),
Carl Moll, Gustav Klimt's friend and co-founder of the Vienna Secession,
Olga Wisinger-Florian, the most important Austrian landscape and still life painter around 1900.
A special focus is on the works of Alexander Rothaug. This Viennese Art Nouveau painter par excellence is nowhere else represented as richly and originally as here.
